اعترف خيري رمضان المذيع في قناة "سي بي سي" المقرب من سلطات الانقلاب العسكري، بأن الرئيس محمد مرسي تعرض لخطة اغتيال معنوي في الإعلام.

وأوضح رمضان في إحدى حلقاته التي كان يدافع فيها عن عبد الفتاح السيسي قائد الانقلاب العسكري، أنهم كانوا يقومون بهدم شخصية الرئيس مرسي في وسائل الاعلام.

وأضاف أن ذلك تم عن طريق ربط كل مشكلة أو حادثة بشخص الرئيس سواء كان انقطاع للكهرباء أو حادث سيارة على طريق السويس، وتابع أنهم كانوا يروجوا بأن الرئيس "نحس" بحيث يصبح مجرد ذكر اسمه يثير القلق والتأفف، ويتم تحميل كل مشكلات الشعب على شخص واحد هو الرئيس.
